In cooperation with the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (MPD), the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) has developed “Oil Facts”, an application (app) about the Norwegian petroleum industry. The app provides key figures, maps, facts and news updates. It also features an analysis function and an energy calculator. Read more

In 2013 it is 150 years since the famous Norwegian artist Edvard Munch was born. The year will be dedicated to honouring the painter and his works, with a varied programme of events all over Norway as well as abroad. The Munch museum and the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design have joined hands for this special occasion. Read more

On Oct. 16th the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Oslo was officially opened in a ceremony where the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar Bin Obaid Madani and the Norwegian Foreign Minister Mr. Espen Barth Eide participated. The Nobel Peace Prize 2012 has been awarded to the European Union (EU). The reason given by the Peace Prize Committee is that “The Union and its forerunners have for over six decades contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe”. Read more

On Friday 21st of September Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg made some changes to his government. Hadia Tajik became Minister of Culture and this is the first appointment of a Muslim Minister in Norway. At the age of 29 she is also the youngest Minister in history. Read more

Four Norwegian films have been selected to participate in the Montreal World Film Festival 2012 held from August 23 to September 3, 2012. Every year films from over seventy five countries participate in the festival. This includes both well-known and first-time filmmakers. The Norwegian film Kon-Tiki has been selected to take part in the 37th Toronto International Film Festival 2012 and will be screened in the «Special Presentation» section. This section includes high – profile premieres and the world’s leading filmmakers with a broad audience interest.
