At 15:20 on Friday 22 July, a bomb exploded outside Government offices in the centre of Oslo. A few hours later a gunman attacked the annual summer camp of the Labour youth movement on Utøya. Many people died and many more were injured in these attacks.
In response to these atrocities Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has said, “Norway has consistently advocated the values of democracy, rule of law, freedom of speech and human rights. The attacks in Oslo will not change our politics, values and the way we engage internationally.” Mr Støre added, “The Norway that you meet tomorrow will be recognisable.”
The international community’s response has been overwhelming, warming the hearts of survivors, their families and the people of Norway. Here are some
photos from our embassies around the world, these images have been published and shared with the people of Norway.
